Representing over two years of research, development and field testing, our Sontronics DM-1B for kick drum and our pencil condensers take Sontronics further into application-specific miking.
The DM-1B is a large-diaphragm, end-fire condenser microphone that has been designed specifically to capture and reproduce the various characteristics of a kick drum: the beater click, the heavy thump, the boomy decay and so on.
It has a switchable -15dB pad that allows the microphone to deal with a whopping 155dB, and its sturdy build plus the aluminium flightcase mean it will perform equally well in the studio and in live applications.
The DM-1B and our were all tested to destruction before launch, by various session drummers, live musicians and producers, including Flood (U2, Killers, Arctic Monkeys) who found that the DM-1B also gives excellent results on bass instruments, especially bass guitar cabs.
